Goodwill Frederick

Goodwill's Director of Marketing asked Hadsel Design LLC to redesign their existing Web site so that it would convey Goodwill Frederick's new image, while emphasizing the role that donations and shopping at Goodwill stores has with Goodwill Frederick's ability to provide job services to their clients. The organization had just unveiled their new image by installing big, beautiful truck wraps on their trucks and vans.

Hadsel Design LLC designed the look and feel, color scheme, and layout around the truck wraps and Goodwill's other marketing materials. The goods-to-jobs relationship is spotlighted by a group of icons at the top of each page that link to the donate, shop, and jobs sections of the Web site. Users can find more in-depth information by clicking items on the main navigation bar. The result is an easy-to-navigate Web site that integrates well with Goodwill's new image.

During this project, Hadsel Design LLC provided the following services to Goodwill Frederick: search-engine-friendly Web design/development using valid XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP technologies, technical writing and editing, image development and optimization. Hadsel Design LLC maintains Goodwill's Web site on an ongoing basis.

Goodwill Board of Directors

Goodwill Frederick's Board of Directors needed a password-protected Web site that would provide each board member access to board-wide announcements, calendar events, and documents, as well as their specific committees' meeting agendas and minutes.

Hadsel Design LLC developed an intranet Web application, with a separate administration CMS interface that allows Goodwill Frederick to update the Board site information. During this project, Hadsel Design LLC utilized the following Web development technologies: XHTML, CSS, PHP, and a MySQL DBMS.

Treasures99

The temporary Treasures99 Web site was used to showcase several high end artisan pottery pieces that the site owner had for sale. Hadsel Design LLC provided a basic Web site and product image isolation, cropping and optimization.

The client's URL is now inactive; a sample page is available by clicking on the link at right. All of the links have been removed from the sample page, except for those leading to the product's larger front and side views. These larger images include the background areas that have been removed from the other views using Photoshop's pen tool.

Meds Plus

Meds-Plus was a non-profit prescription assistance organization that wanted to extend its market nationally. The Meds-Plus website explained how the company helped people obtain their prescription medicines from pharmaceutical companies for just a small handling fee. Hadsel Design LLC developed a simple-to-navigate Web site with a professional, uncluttered appearance that lent credibility to the organization.

Hadsel Design LLC provided the following services to Meds-Plus in addition to Web design: logo design, stock photo procurement, image development and optimization, content development, technical writing (including writing their mission statement for grant applications), and brochure design.

Although the client's business no longer exists, due to some unfortunate internal problems, the Web site remains a good example of a basic small business site designed by Hadsel Design LLC. It may be viewed in its entirety (minus the copy text) by clicking on the link at right.

CSS Table Gallery

Although HTML tables should not be used to layout Web pages, they do serve a purpose in Web design: to hold tabular data. The CSS Table Gallery displays CSS table designs applied to a common HTML table and proves that "CSS and data tables can work together to create usable and pretty results."

Awhile back, Janie Hadsel submitted a design called "City Mouse" to the gallery. The CSS Table Gallery HTML table has grown long and unwieldy since then, but you can get a sense of the design if you view both the top and bottom of the page.
